Visiting the Cascate del Mulino, Saturnia Baths
Recommended Season: All year
Starting Country: Italy
Recommended time: 2 days
The Mulino waterfalls, located near the Saturnia baths, are one of the places not to be missed when visiting Italy, more precisely the Tuscany region, although they are already outside Tuscany, but a few kilometers away.
It is impressive the amount of water that falls in those waterfalls, the temperature and the health benefits. Read all about the Mulino waterfalls below.
We visited the waterfalls at the beginning of March and although it is still cold it is perhaps one of the best times to enjoy it because there are far fewer people and you can enjoy all the pools that look more like a jacuzzi.
On our visit, we stayed at the campervan park, which we also inform you about this park below.

The Cascades del Mulino are not what many people think of the spas of Saturnia. The hot springs are just a few km away. Satúrnia is the name of the nearest village. The Cascate del Mulino di Satúrnia is today one of the most important tourist attractions in this region including Tuscany. The name of the Mulino, or translating, of the Mill, is due to the fact that next to the waterfall there is an old deactivated water mill. Its waters are thermal and sulphurous generated by the Gorello current.
The water springs from a natural spring at a temperature of 37.5ºC and is due to the presence of a natural element (thermal plankton) that has beneficial effects on the skin, digestive, circulatory and metabolic systems.
The water comes through an open-air stream from its source to the waterfalls without losing its temperature due to the large flow of water.
The water runs 24 hours a day, every day.
The waters of the thermal spring of Saturnia travel for more than 40 years in the depths of Monte Amiata. During the underground journey, the thermal water mineralizes absorbing carbon dioxide, releasing it from the travertines which, at a depth of 200 meters, dissolve due to the effect of CO2, releasing sulphur, calcium, sulfates and magnesium, absorbing vitamins and gases before to reach the surface. The flow rate is 800 liters per second.
The beneficial effects of water are countless, acting on the cardiocirculatory, respiratory, muscular and skeletal systems. In addition, this unique water in the world has a strong protective, antioxidant and purifying action, exerting a natural peeling action with exfoliating, purifying and moisturizing properties.
Benefits
Acne, Eczema, psoriasis, allergic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, mycosis, pharyngitis, chronic tonsillitis, chronic rhinitis, allergic rhinitis, reinforces the respiratory system and the musculoskeletal system helping in the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatism and paramorphism it also helps in the treatment of dyspepsia and constipation .
Contraindications

Who suffers from tachycardia
Pregnant
Who has chronic kidney problems.
------------------------------------------
Bathing in the Mulino waterfall is completely free and has no opening or closing time
If you can visit outside the high season, it's usually very crowded. We were there at the beginning of March and there was almost no one there, which allowed us to fully enjoy the various pools with various types of natural massage.
It is advisable to wear flip-flops or non-slip shoes because the floor is uneven and rocky.
Next to the waterfall there is a support restaurant where you can use the restrooms, you can shower (paid) and change clothes.
If you visit by car, there are plenty of parking options, if you arrive early it's easier to find a free space, or go to one of the paid parks.
If visiting by motorhome, 1200 meters away, there is a private park with all services (description and information below)
