Mértola is a Portuguese village in the district of Beja, Alentejo region and sub-region of Baixo Alentejo, with about 3 100 inhabitants. The village is situated on an elevation on the right bank of the river Guadiana, immediately upstream of the confluence of the Oeiras river.
