Manueline civil architecture, quadrangular and two-storey plan, fitted shims, windows in highly grated marble. The outside ramp of the staircase is supported by a cunhal discoid decoration. At the same altitude, there is an interesting balcony from an artistic point of view, with polilobed posts and sculpted consoles.
The designation of Cadeia Comarcã already received it in century XX, more concretely in 1936, when the government creates this legal figure in the Portuguese penitentiary system, in which the sentenced to a maximum penalty of three months of imprisonment would be imprisoned in this type of chain. .
The comarcas were extinguished in 1969 and the last prisoner was transferred to Évora in the early 1970s, according to information provided by former local prisoners.

This building was built under the reign of D. Manuel I (1495-1521), judging by its architectural features. We only know that it existed in 1497 and these services were transferred directly to this property from Paço Real (LIBERATO, 2007).
