The Peruvian province of Bongará is one of the seven provinces that make up the department of Amazonas in Peru.
It was created by Decree Law of December 26, 1870. It limits to the north with the Province of Condorcanqui and the Loreto Region, to the east with the San Martín Region, to the south with the Province of Chachapoyas, and to the west with the provinces of Utcubamba and Luya.
Its capital, Villa de Jumbilla, is located at 1,935 meters above sea level, its geographical coordinates being 5 ° 53'38 and 8243; South Latitude and 77º44´52 e 8243; West longitude.
Province of Bongará, where the most beautiful and original orchids in the world come from; It is also a center of tourist attraction for its Pomacochas lagoon, thermo-medicinal sources of Corontachaca and Chaquil, as well as for being the habitat of the yellow-tailed woolly monkey - the only one in the world and in danger of extinction.
