The entrance to this archaeological complex is free, but access is difficult. You have to board a bus that takes you from Piura to the city of Ayabaca. To get to the ruins, you have to go through a path that slides through the mountains - this trip can also be done by bus - but the rest of the way has to be done on foot or by mule. Therefore, to make your visit more pleasant and beneficial, I recommend renting a car, hiring a guide and some mules.



This hill that rises to 2916 meters above sea level is surrounded by tropical vegetation, very typical in which ferns are not lacking. The beautiful orchids, bromeliads, birds, white-tailed deer and other species also stand out.







n the province of Aybaca (Piura - Peru) is the archaeological complex of Aypate (in the hamlet of Lagunas de Canli, in the Peasant Community of Tacalpo-ayabaca), which, it is believed, was an Administrative Center of the Tahuantinsuyo (in Empire Inca). Among the various ruins of the complex (the domestic ones, those dedicated to cultivation and others) we find two buildings associated with two squares that, surely, were used for administrative purposes. 100 meters east of the main complex is the ceremonial center, currently known as the "Pyramid of the Moon".



Without a doubt, Aypate is the most important ancient monument that the department of Piura has. I encouraged you to visit and discover the majesty of this archaeological complex.
